Sick and tired of feeling stuck?

Wisconsin Hypnosis Center teaches you to control your subconscious mind

When we’re young, our imaginations are everything. We can conjure up exactly who we want to be in an instant: a superhero, a princess, a jungle animal creeping through a wild bush that we’re pretending is there. It feels real because it’s simply our desire to be that different entity, to transform into something we find magical.

stuck

Why do we stop?

“Who” we imagine we are, changes significantly from childhood to adulthood. Instead of Spiderman, it’s someone who can get through the day without a cigarette, a person who gets on an airplane without anxiety, or a confident beach goer who is in the best shape of his or her life.

The picture varies, but the groundwork — first conceiving the picture in our mind and then placing ourselves in the setting in which we feel most optimal — is there. It’s not easy to change your life, but it’s simple.

No one knows this more than Jay Luck, master hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programing practitioner, and Angie Levens, Associate, of Wisconsin Hypnosis Center in Green Bay and Appleton.

“When I started researching hypnosis and found Jay, I realized how different talk therapy is in comparison and retraining your brain to think in a more positive way versus focusing on the scenario that had taken place,” Angie explains. “What matters is that you want to change something.”

“Hypnosis is an amazing thing, and it reduces so many ugly possibilities. If you listen to a drug commercial, it talks about terrible side effects. But hypnosis? You’ll sleep better. Your mood will probably improve. There are so many positives, you don’t need a warning label.”

“We teach clients skills, habits and powerful beliefs through neurolinguistics and hypnosis that teach them how to have those ‘I can’ moments. It is never about making someone feel wrong for doing something in the past. It’s about making them realize they don’t have to repeat the pattern,” Jay says.

UN-HYPNOTIZING OLD PATTERNS, HABITS AND BELIEFS

According to Auburn University and cognitive neuroscientists, “we are conscious of only about 5 percent of our cognitive activity, so most of our decisions, actions, emotions and behavior depends on the 95 percent of brain activity that goes beyond our conscious awareness.”

Jay explains that we tend to believe that our subconscious mind — that which is known for influencing feelings and actions — is in control. Patterns, habits and beliefs fall into this category, and when we feel stuck, we blame the subconscious for feeling compelled to do something we know we shouldn’t, like smoking or eating unhealthy food.

“We’re un-hypnotizing old patterns, habits and beliefs and hypnotizing in the new. Because this isn’t about making the subconscious mean and evil, it does its job. It’s supposed to resist change. What you learn is how to control what’s in your subconscious. Therefore, you can get back on autopilot but with the results you want,” he says.

In order to do so, hypnosis helps to determine why you’ve attached to a habit. Most people don’t immediately recognize the anchors, which can go back to early childhood. Jay gives the example of the first lesson we learn as newborns: when we cry, we get fed. It becomes a pattern. But as we go through life, that habit isn’t useful as an adult any longer.

“What’s important is that they realize that the connection they have to the habit is not required to understand how to change it,” Jay explains. “But I don’t let them spend a lot of time on their story. Imagine your life is a book. The bad part happens in chapter 5. Today, you’re in chapter 12.

Do you want to live in 5 or 12?”

“Our egos think, ‘Without our stories, what are we?’” Angie adds. “You have to be able to come in and redefine yourself and let go of what you know of yourself to allow your future to unfold in the most positive way. We minimize our possibilities because we hang on to our stories.”

Wisconsin Hypnosis Center offers one-on-one, private sessions at their Green Bay and Appleton locations. Sessions have direction, but often aren’t pre-planned because they must allow flexibility based on what the client needs.

It starts with a problem, like wanting to quit smoking, reduce stress or lose weight. They offer free in-depth screenings to determine if you will be accepted as a client. Being serious about change is vital to finding success and with their unique program, it’s fun to succeed.

“We ask them to imagine that they never solve the problem they come in for, they continue doing what they’ve always done,” Jay explains. “You have to look in the mirror. You realize how bad this could be compared to how bad it already feels. How would you feel about yourself if you could have reversed all of this today and instead didn’t?”

“We’re going from ‘It sucks’ to “It sucks worse if I don’t change it’ to ‘Wow, what would it be like if I had it?’ We’re helping them to get over the drama to change.”

Jay and Angie use the tools and techniques of hypnosis to help facilitate that transformation and tailor their sessions to individual clients. But they say one universal step always makes it possible.

“Imagine falling in love with yourself. There would be no more barriers. You can do anything. When you get out of your own head, you see what you need to do. Angie and I are teachers, not magicians. But it feels magical.”

RESULTS VARY. Wisconsin Hypnosis Center teaches self-hypnosis. Jay and his team are not doctors. They do not diagnose mental health issues or medical conditions, and refer out people who may need those services.
